Just Stuff...with a recipe...

I love the things kids say, especially during prayer. Last night Jibbity was saying it, and after blessing her friend at school to be good instead of naughty, and asking to let us please have good dreams instead of bad, she finished off with a..."and please bless me that I can look cute in my pictures tomorrow". Oh how this 5 year old makes me laugh!! The kids have picture day today, and she is very concerned with what she is going to wear. She says she has to look "adorable".
************
Sunday afternoons I sometimes feel the desire to bake, nothing fancy mind you, but something Hunter Dan can enjoy during the week, as well as the kiddos. I thought it was time Bug tried his hand at a cake(from the box), and frosting(from scratch). He did awesome, and was soo proud of himself.
He says he can even make his own Birthday cake. It
was cute to see the sense of accomplishment on his face, especially when he tasted it after dinner. As if that weren't enough he then helped me make yummy marshmallow popcorn.
Here's the recipe...super easy and sooo yummy.
CANDY CANE POPCORN

4 quarts popcorn
3 cups mini marshmallows
1 cup margarine
1 1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 tsp vanilla

Pop corn, add marshmallows, nuts, gumdrops, m&m's or whatever.(my Mom always makes this at Christmas time for neighbors, and adds cashews and gumdrops. She also shapes it into a candy cane or wreath.) Melt margarine in heavy sauce pan, add sugar, and corn syrup. Bring to boil...stir and simmer for 3 minutes. Add vanilla, mix well, pour over popcorn.
We only added the marshmallows, and it's almost gone now. YUMMY!!!
Have a FaNtAsTiC Tuesday!!!

That picture of your daughter is awesome and she sounds like a smart little girl! How sweet of her to pray for good pictures. If I was smarter back in the day I would've done the same, Lord knows I could've used some help! Hah.

Thumbs up to your helper in the kitchen. That popcorn sounds yummy!

Your kids are too stinking adorable. I love that pose she's doing...I used to be a "poser" too. So cute. :)

LOVE that he made a cake on his own. Maybe he'll get a show on The Food Network and you'll all be rich. ;)

Hope you'll stop by my 3rd Decorating Dilemmas Party. I'm posting it tonight after 10 pm (EST), and it will up all day tomorrow. I have a prize. ;)

You know he's probably really happy about the mixer because it's like a power tool. :)
That popcorn recipe sounds awesome and Jibbity is so darn cute with that prayer. It starts young, right? Hoping to look good in pictures...

Oh how I needed a smile! Loved the pics of Jace...the most he has cooked here is raw Ramon noodles smashed up with the seasoning in a ziplock back (yuck!) Maybe I can talk him into baking some goodies for me now that I know he is capable! :-)

That boy of yours is just too freaking cute!

I wish I could bake a cake. But I can't because I eat the whole thing while the girls are at school and hubby is at work...the WHOLE thing!
