Friend Makin' Monday

It's time once again for FMM(Friend Makin' Monday) over at Kasey's. This is a super fun way to get to know other awesome bloggers. So head on over to find out the rules and link up!

This week we are talking about words to live by or ADVICE...here's the question:

What is the Best Advice someone has ever given you?....this one was a hard one for me. I've been given many pieces of advice from many people through-out my life. They range from marriage to finances to children, and family. The one that stands out the most to me though is a simple thing my brother said to me during a very difficult time in my life, and that was...

"Take the High Road."

This at the time pertained to the divorce I was going through. I went to him many, many times needing advice and venting frustrations, he would patiently listen, let me cry, let me be angry, let me cry some more and simply say,"take the high road". Those words always made me stop, evaluate what I needed to do, help me realize that no matter what I did or said, nothing would bring my marriage back, and I had to move forward with this new life I was forced to have. I could deal with the changes in many ways, but his advice was always the same...and that made me stop and think! Many times in the last seven years since that time, those words have come back...I am faaaaarrrr from perfect, and have not always used this simple advice, but it's always there in my mind. Thanks Darrin, you're a very wise, and caring brother, and I love you!

If you want to share some advice, and make some friends, head on over to Kasey's and play along!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter, and enjoyed spending time with family, and friends as you celebrated this special holiday! Have a great Monday...

Brother's must just be born with a few (and I do mean a few....you'd have to know my 3 brothers, lol). Big Bro told me one time "Reggie, you can be right or you can be happy". I've never forgotten that one. After all, being right isn't the most important thing (well..... every now and again it don't hurt though, lol).
I love those picy's of your sweet smiling little ones over there on the right :)

That is great you have such a nice family to help you out when you needed it. That is something hard to deal with and look at you. You did it. I sure do love and count on my family. Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

That made me cry. You never told me this before. I won't say what you know I want to say! But you have an awesome life now, and if you never came here to live after your divorce we never would have met!

Love ya!

Such good advice, and so nice to have a brother! I never had one, but Hubby has a sister and I know she relies on him so much for his advice on anything and everything.

Thanks for sharing, and stopping by my blog :-)

Well, looking at the beautiful photos of your children and doing the math on their ages, it appears the high road took you to a beautiful place.

Great advice from your big brother and kudos to you for being able to take it and implement it. Sounds like you're a pretty strong lady with good character. :-)

Great Advice. I go to my brother when I just need to vent sometimes and he has the best things to say most of the time.
I hope you having a great day!!!

That is great advice--and one that will never have any regrets!

That is truly the best advice when we are dealing with relationships that are turning sour...whether it be marriages, friendships, family relationships. It's so tempting to act beneath ourselves when things get emotional but if we remember to 'take the high road' we will seldom do or say things we might regret later. Great post! Thanks for sharing! (BTW thanks to you and Xazmin I am LOVING FMM!)

Wow...that really is such good advice given from your brother. And it's so true. Life is so much easier (not necessarily easy), when we do that. Thanks so much for sharing that today!

The High Road can be the hardest road to walk, but in the long run, it's the best thing. Thanks for sharing this and sharing your story, Tanielle!
