April Fools!!!!!

I played a little April fools joke on the kiddos this afternoon.
First off I had a joke played on me when I went out to the car in yet another blizzard! When I got home from getting groceries I shoveled five inches of snow off the deck! Luckily it melted fast and even luckier the sidewalk and front steps dried quickly....so my little joke would work after all!
My kids love money!!! Who doesn't? But there is just something about seeing a shiny penny, or nickel, dime or best yet a quarter just sitting there on the ground waiting to be treasured!

So with a little super glue and some coins...let the laughs(at least for me)begin!

I asked Jibbity to run out and check the mail for me.(she loves doing that) When she returned and MISSED the shiny coins, I had to say, "hey what is that"...she replies,"ooh MONEY, can I have it?" "Sure", I said. She tried really hard to pick it up, and couldn't figure out why it was "stuck" to the ground!!! She is a good sport and loves jokes so she laughed about it, and told me to make Lexlee try to get them.

Lexlee was home today from school with a sore throat. I called her upstairs and asked her to go check the mail because Jibbity couldn't get the mailbox opened. She is a little more timid, so when she saw the money she just asked,"who's is that?" "I don't know", I responded. I told her she could have it, someone must have dropped it. HAHAHA...too funny!

The best yet though is Bug. He is money hungry!!! He worked all last year by collecting cans, doing odd jobs, and anything else he could think of to earn money for a laptop. He is only 11, but his Grandpa made a deal with him if he earned so much, Grandpa would pay the rest!!! He did it and I am very proud of him. He can smell and spot money anywhere, and is always trying to figure out how to make his own money. For instance there is a note on my fridge that says...Need a babysitter? You can contact me by going downstairs and turning right.....I was excited for him to get home from school! He got home and MISSED the money too!!! I sent him back out to check the mail...and he saw it then...he was excited!!!!! As he started to TRY to pick up the coins, I couldn't contain my laughter! And...I pulled out the camera, he knew something was up, but still tried to pick up the other coins! He is threatening pay-back...we'll see!

What a fun way to have some laughs...and my kids were great sports too!

Does anyone have any ideas of how to get super-glued coins off the sidewalk?:-)

That's too funny. My 2 younger ones would fall for it, but my teenager would not. Our April fools joke today seems to an annual one by my dh. He puts elastic bands on the sprayer in the kitchen sink. The first yr my ds got sprayed. Later on that morning I got sprayed(have got to remember to take it off after discovering it.) Then the next yr I got it again, and ever since then I seem to be the victim. This yr was a bit different in that ds saw it, but as I'm leaning my back against the sink chatting with him, he's turned on the water and my sweater is getting soaked. However, I wasn't even aware of it. I had on 2 sweaters tops and then a regular sweater. Ds kept trying to get my attention and finally he commented that my sweater was getting wet. Still didn't feel anything, but my sweater got washed lol

Our kids are still pretty little so we didn't do anything. Logan did walk around all day tell everyone they had something on their face or shirt or shoe. 5 year old humor is priceless!! I'll have to store this idea away to use in a couple years.

OK, this is HILARIOUS!! I'm so doing this next year with my daughter when she'll be closer to 4 years and kind of get what April Fool's Day means. So glad you got the reactions on camera!
